This wonderful body of water is the gateway to everything required to make your experience out with Hooked Up Charters an adventure not to be forgotten.
The Gulf is a holding ground for many of New Zealand’s most popular recreational fishing species. The various Islands and Coromandel Peninsula also provide a perfect environment for these species to flourish not to mention great protection from the elements. Hooked up Charters specifically targets big Snapper and Kingfish and will explore the Gulf to its outer reaches in search of the biggest of these species.
Over the years, Laurie has collated many spots that hold snapper all year round or at certain times of the year. He has also marked out structures known for holding Kingfish and it’s his knowledge of these locations that give him the edge when catching you the big one. The Hauraki is also well known for its abundance of school fish and its frequency of massive work ups. These work ups will also be targeted as they provide the opportunity for exciting fishing and are also an amazing spectacle. Gannets diving, fish on the surface of the water and the chance of seeing dolphins and whales are added bonus to catching big snapper and kingfish.
The weather does not always cooperate when going fishing but with the many islands and subsequent shelter that is provided, the Hauraki still gives Laurie the chance to go to spots where the big ones can be caught.
